An Awesome Mother's Day!

Mother's Day was so great this year.  It's always a tricky holiday for me.  I want to enjoy it but it seems to come with a bit of guilt and feeling like you should be doing more as a mum.  But my kids and awesome husband always make me feel special.  I, like most mums, love homeade gifts.  So this year I really had a special treat.  But before that came our traditional breakfast in bed.  There were even Betty Crocker cinnamon crumble muffins.  Lex must've paid $7 for that box mix.  What a guy!  They were delish!  Then he arranged to have one of the nurse's make him her famous key lime pie for me.  Key lime is one of my favorite pies.  And this nurse deserved her title.  It was awesome.  She grows her own limes for crying out loud...can't compete with that!

But the best part of my day was "The Show" that night.  My kids put together an awesome sing and dance show complete with spot lights (shining torches aka: flashlights on the performers) from Parker and then because they know me so well, they gave me my very own firework show!

My kids know I love watching fireworks.  They worked so hard and I had no idea what they were putting together.  They colored and cut out "explosions" and put them on various lengths of sticks.  Then set to music, they hid below the edge of the back porch and shot the sticks up to the music.  It was so awesome to see those fireworks coming up at all different heights and going back down then a new firework would shoot up and again and again.  How creative is that?  I love these kids!  They are so awesome.  I think it is probably my favorite mother's day gift to date.  I absolutely loved it!  A firework show just for me!
Love my kids so much.  I would be so completely lost without them!

I seriously don't know what I did to deserve 3 such amazing kids.  I mean they are the best ever.  They make me laugh, they think I'm pretty funny, they're always up for a cuddle, they make me feel better when things get hard, they have kept me sane through med school and residency.  People in residency used to always ask me, how do you do residency with kids?  Wouldn't it have been easier to wait until after residency to have kids?  I am so blown away by that.  My kids got me through residency.  I know I wouldn't have made it through without them.  A "job" outside of the home would've pulled me away from Lex and our marriage.  These 3 reminded me everyday that our family is worth every trial and late night.  When I look at them, I see 3 miracles.  I know how tricky it was to get them here.  I'll never forget the days in the NICU and the happiness of bringing them home in my arms.  Heavenly Father blessed me to be a mother and I couldn't have asked for a better job.  I am so blessed!  My kids are my lifeline and Lex and these 3 darlings are my best friends.  Family is Everything! That's worth a firework show!!!
